Jack Frost racers performed well at the Elk Mountain U14 GS qualifier race, which was held on Sunday, February 26, 2017.
The event was originally planned for Saturday and was delayed one day due to Saturday's torrential rains, thunderstorms, tornadoes, hail and flooding.... The grounds crew performed a miracle by getting the race course in good shape for race day. It was cloudy with temperatures starting out a few degrees below freezing, but it felt much colder with a strong breeze and a 20F wind chill for most of the day.
Several clubs from outside the Eastern / NE divisions sent their top racers to compete for extra practice. Despite the higher than normal level of competition, all our racers had a very enjoyable and successful day, with 14 of 26 Jack Frost racers making the flip and 15 finishing in the top 30 (including 10 women and 5 men). As we wind down the season, we can be very proud of the tremendous progress and team spirit all our racers have shown this season!
Thanks to all the parents, coaches, ground crews and staff that helped make this year so enjoyable!
